Are you ready for a test? Good, here we go: For the next 15 seconds think of 5 people who helped you as a child. Now take the next 15 seconds and think of someone who helped your child or grandchild. You’re doing great. Take the next 15 seconds and think of anyone you admire for their advocacy for children. Who said timed tests were hard? We have little trouble naming the people who really mattered to us because they cared and made a difference in our lives.

The Kansas PTA has a great way to recognize these individuals with the Marjorie Holwick Wall of Fame. This award is given to people who make a difference in children’s lives. The award is named in honor of Marjorie Holwick who was a friend to Kansas PTA for over 20 years.

All PTA members are encouraged to remember educators (including teachers, principals, administrators, school support personnel, etc), volunteers and advocates for children. PTA members are also encouraged to recognize outstanding students. The Wall of Fame gives you the opportunity to celebrate people from your past and your child’s teachers, coaches, or adults who have made a difference. Maybe you would like to give this to that special PTA person who is always there for you.

Please fill out the Wall of Fame form and recognize all who deserve this excellent accolade. Please remember to include reasons for submission along with $10 and the home address or the school address for an educator employed with the district. The Kansas PTA will take submissions throughout the year but will honor them at the State Convention along with a letter to the individual. This is an outstanding way to say thank you to that special person who has made an impact on the lives of children. The money collected will go into the Kansas PTA Scholarship Fund.
