Reflections Update

We hope your Reflections Program is underway or soon to be kicked off. We want to take this opportunity to provide you with some important dates and other information. Please see the dates below:

Unit Deadline	Friday, January 10 (This is your school) Entries must be turned in to your local unit chair.
Region Deadline	Friday, January 24 (SMAC) SPECIAL NOTE: This year's judged entries from your school are to be forwarded to the SMAC chair by this date. Entries will be collected at John Diemer Elementary School, 9600 Lamar from 9 a.m. to noon and from 4-6 p.m. only. If you are unable to deliver your entries at these times, please contact one of the Reflections co-chairs: Shirley Reeves at 381-2134 or Carmen Sachs at 341-6996 to arrange a delivery time earlier in the week. NO COUNCIL-LEVEL ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER JANUARY 24, 2003.
Region Judging	Friday, January 31 at the Shawnee Mission West Bridge (5:00 – 9:00 p.m.)
Region Open House	Saturday, February 1 at the Shawnee Mission West Bridge (10:00 a.m. to 12 p.m.)
State Deadline	Friday, February 21
Region Award Ceremony	Monday, March 31 at 7:00 p.m. SM School Board Meeting at SM North West
Pickup date	Friday, February 28 at John Diemer for all entries that don’t go to the State level

As Region Co-Chairs, we will collect entries on Friday, January 24 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at John Diemer Elementary. The address is 9600 Lamar, Overland Park, KS 66207. No entries will be accepted after January 24th. If you can’t make these times, you can call Shirley at 913 381 2135 or Carmen at 913 341 6996 to arrange a time to bring your entries earlier on that week.

When you turn your 1st Place winning entries in each category to us on January 24, you should also include:

Local PTA Participation Form (Form A) – this is the form where you put all your school’s entry totals. Please make sure to complete this form.
Reflections Program Region Submission Form – Please fill in your school’s winning entries and artists’ information.
National PTA 2002-2003 Reflections Program Official Entry Form – Each entry should have a completed original plus one copy of this form. Notice that the form needs to be signed by the parent, and it must include your school’s National PTA ID. You can get this number from your PTA President.
Literature Entries – Please submit the original plus two copies of each of the winning literature entries.

Also, please forward to Region only the first place winner in each art category for each grade division. Other placing awards can be given at your discretion at your school. Consider giving every child that submits an entry a certificate for participating.

Remember we have a copy of the Reflections video to lend out. Please call us if you want to show the video at your school. We have enjoyed talking to many of you, and answering your questions.
