KANSAS PTA
HONORARY LIFE MEMBERSHIP
In recognition of outstanding service to PTA or to
children and youth, Kansas PTA Honorary Life Memberships are bestowed upon
individuals by a unit or the area council. The proceeds from Kansas
PTA Honorary Life Memberships contribute to the Future Teacher Scholarship
Fund and the Vocational Technical Fund. Honorary memberships can be
purchased by sending ten dollars ($20.00) and the name of the person who
is to receive the membership to the Kansas PTA Office in Topeka along with
the name and address of where the membership is to be sent. The ten
dollar cost is to be made for each individual that is being recognized by
the PTA unit or council. Many units also purchase the Life
Membership pin to present with the membership card. The gold pin is
the shape of a miniature Kansas sunflower and is available at an
additional cost from the State PTA office (pin with card $37.75).
Although honorary membership may be presented at any
time, presentation at the Founders Day meeting is a popular time. A life
membership is honorary and does not carry with it the right to vote or to
hold office. To be an active member, a life member must pay
National, State and local dues each year. As this award is presented
for faithful and outstanding activity in PTA, an individual may receive
more than one of these awards. The names of all those receiving
Honorary Kansas PTA Life memberships are kept on file in the State PTA
Office. It is the feeling of the Kansas PTA that these awards
are not to be presented to groups such as school staff, school boards, PTA
boards, etc. All names that are submitted to the State PTA office
should also be submitted to the Historian/Life Memberships chairperson,
Deidre Anderson by email at deidrea@hickmanmills.org
or by mail at 7507 Cody #3, Shawnee, KS 66214.
